Product Overview

The limited-combustible deco sheet resists flame spread and emits minimal toxic gases during fires, meeting the Korea Fire Institute (KFI)’s performance standards for limited-combustible materials.

1. Product Overview

The requirements for residential environments are evolving, with “eco-friendliness and safety” becoming increasingly essential. Research indicates that fire damage is more frequently caused by toxic gases than by direct flame contact. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and industry sources, 60% of fire-related deaths result from suffocation due to a combination of oxygen deprivation and toxic gases.

The limited-combustible deco sheet effectively resists flame spread and emits minimal harmful substances during fires. We have obtained a certificate for meeting the Korea Fire Institute’s (KFI) performance standards, including the 45° combustion test, heat release test, and gas toxicity test, ensuring high fire safety. This product is expected to significantly contribute to industry development, public safety, and environmental protection.

2. Understanding the Product

The product indicates the deco sheet and interior film used as surface finishes for furniture, doors, and walls in indoor environments. It is a building material that comes into direct contact with everyday spaces and affects human health and safety.

3. Current Product Landscape

While eco-friendly PP and PET materials are used in flexible packaging and food containers, PVC materials are still commonly used in building finishing materials.

PVC products, which contain plasticizers for better formability, release total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs) that degrade indoor air quality and cause various health issues, including atopic dermatitis.

During fires, PVC emits deadly gases like hydrogen cyanide and hydrogen chloride. It has become the major factor of environmental pollution, posing significant risks to health and safety.

4. Development of the Limited-combustible Deco Sheet

1) Product Characteristics

  • Uses eco-friendly PP and PET materials.
  • Enhanced flame retardancy by integrating a metal fire safety layer.
  • World’s first limited-combustible deco sheet that has been recognized as a limited-combustible material by the Korea Fire Industry Institute (KFI) inspection standards in a sheet form as thin as 0.15mm.
  • Obtained a patent for its exclusive limited-combustible deco sheet technology utilizing a fire safety layer.
  • This product combines CPP film, a fire safety layer, and a base layer (Patent Number ###), resulting in minimal emission of harmful substances during a fire. It withstands 10 minutes of heating at 50kW of radiant heat without melting or significant cracking. As a limited-combustible material with no residual flames lasting more than 30 seconds after heating, it has been certified as a limited-combustible material by the Korea Fire Institute (KFI).

6. Material Advantages

Dioxin production increases with higher chlorine content, and traditional PVC materials inherently contain the significant amount of chlorine. Addressing the harmful environmental impacts of dioxins is a critical challenge for the 21st century. This product uses polyolefin-based raw materials instead of PVC, aligning with global eco-friendly movements. It also avoids using DOP (Dioctyl Phthalate) and other endocrine-disrupting substances, making it highly eco-friendly.

8. Certification Scope

1) When this product is applied to the adhered surface of limited-combustible materials (gypsum board, cement, or steel plates), the relevant product will obtain a limited-combustible certification.

2) When this product is applied to wood materials such as furniture, plywood, doors, and moldings and formally approved, the relevant product will be recognized as a flame-retardant product.
